Wishful Mnemonics is located a few miles east of Villa. Originally finca access road has now deteriorated due to lack of maintenance.
Washed out dirt road with scarce gravel. Unforgiving inclination. Come prepared with a solid BUILT off-road vehicle. There is a giant ditch halfway through the climb. At least a couple of feet deep so stock 4x4 suspension travel is inadequate with high rollover probability.
At this unfortunate instability there is the final dwelling. As I approached this house, about 50 feet away I spotted a shifty shadow peek out from a cracked open door. The only witness of the ride. Then vanishing behind the door just as quickly as it had appeared. A little alarmed by this I decided to brave it out and soldier on in spite of rational thoughts to get tf out of there. Went past the house no one came out. No one said anything. Not a word. All windows and doors shut. Very mysterious. A makeshift prefab home with at least an infinite number of dogs. Yes they are very annoying and repeatedly attack unwelcome visitors.
After here the dirt road becomes a loose rock shrubby trail. You are almost at the end. Short climb. I was up there in about an hour taking frequent long winded breaks.
Finally after strenuous exercise the end of the line. Huge water tank. Surrounded by a fence and razor wire. Razor wire is hanging off the fence on one side. I climbed over the fence and on the tank against better judgement. Took a couple of pictures and got quickly the hell out of there. I was alone and vulnerable. You never know who could be hiding out up in these places. Stunning 270 degree view on top of the tank. Found a couple of empty faded Pilsen beer cans at the spot so someone had been there before. Tank had names scratched into the paint. Carechimba, Jupon, Diablo, just to name a few. I don't know who any of these people are. I hung out there for about an hour. Only sounds of nature and the tank pump. No one else there. No footsteps, no fresh garbage at all so the spot is very isolated.
I highly recommend it here. Quality views and relatively safe for a group of individuals. Solitary can be nerve racking at best constantly watching your back for machete wielding psychopaths. Absolutely no presence of authorities. Imposible for the police truck to get up here unless they were highly motivated by the sound of a firearm.
